I am Nguyen Tan Phong - a Jurist, an Arbitrator, and someone who has spent over ten years accompanying the growth of Vietnam's e-commerce.
I believe e-commerce is not merely a business sector. It is the foundational infrastructure of Vietnam's 21st-century digital economy. Every legal provision enacted today will shape how millions of businesses and tens of millions of consumers interact over the next decade.
I believe good e-commerce law is not about more law, but about law that is clear, feasible, and balanced across three interests: business innovation, consumer protection, and effective state management.
I do not believe in three things:
First, I do not believe in the "know-it-all lawyer". The most honest person is the one who dares to say "this point is not yet clear, it needs further research".
Second, I do not believe in ivory-tower academia. Research has value when it is both rigorously peer-reviewed and helps a small business in Vinh Long or Tra Vinh understand its rights and obligations.
Third, I do not believe in leniency toward e-commerce fraud. Wherever trust is eroded, the digital market cannot grow sustainably.
I serve three groups: e-commerce businesses (especially SMEs), policymakers, and the academic community, including students.
